Resilience

A picture of resilience
Walton Man defies odds after brain injury merely by surviving

An oak tree on Green Road in Walton with two small dents in it is a small reminder of what happened to Matthew Reed.

It was Feb. 12, 2005, when Reed wrapped his 1997 Chevy Cavalier around the tree, yet survived.

Their daughter is cute and she looks so happy also. That is amazing, it's so nice to read about a family successfully helping each other through adversity.

Our massive family organizational efforts were always a source of wonderment for the medical staff at the facilities where he was treated. They never saw that level of support before, and all swore that it really made the difference.

In the beginning, no one thought he would even walk or talk again, let alone be so self-sufficient or be able to father a child. He's so good with her, and she adores him. She's definitely "daddy's girl."
